This is to express my concern about a cult of gender identity that I consider to be misogynistic and contrary to science and logic. This cult claims that persons are in all cases of whatever sex they claim to be and demands that males who claim to be females have access to all-female spaces, including locker rooms, sports teams, and rape crisis centers. Because the cult is based purely on faith, not evidence or reason, it demands also that any dissent from its claims be silenced. We are seeing this in BMDC and it poses a threat to the existence of the group. The gender-identity cult is autocratic and anti-democratic.

Its base of support is the Democratic Party and the profitable industry of what is falsely called "gender-affirming care." That industry and its political backers demand that gender dysphoria of young people be "treated" by diagnosing girls as male and boys as female, and by irreversibly altering their bodies by hormones and surgery. 

Under the rules of this cult, the only possible definitions of maleness or femaleness are sex stereotypes, where boys are defined as kids who play with trucks and guns, and girls are defined as kids who play with dolls and wear dresses. Feminists decades ago showed how harmful sex stereotypes are and how they enforce the subordinate position of women. Both the "conservative" and "liberal" versions of class political rule celebrate sex stereotypes. The "conservatives" demand that kids change their behaviors if they violate the stereotypes. The "liberals" demand that kids change their bodies. 

The entire US left is following the Democrats' lead on this gender-identity politics. The role of the cult within the left is to split and wreck any groups independent of the Democrats. 

Our first task is to defend the democratic rights of women to speak out. A second, more difficult, task is to develop a feminist and inclusive strategy that challenges the gender-identity cult. That cult does not represent all trans people. Like many women, many trans people follow the cult because of intimidation.
