In response to some demands that members of BMDC be expelled or threatened with expulsion for their opinions about sex and gender (including opinions about free speech for women), I have suggested that an agenda point at the next meeting consider a proposal to defend women from threats and assault when they speak out, and a proposal to defend the right of lesbians to declare openly their same-sex (not same-gender) orientation. 

Implicit in the vote to create a discussion list is the principle that BMDC members have the right to share their opinions on such a list. Unfortunately, the creation of that list, while helpful, has not prevented the continued disruption generated by demands for expulsions of BMDC members.

Perhaps a wiser proposal to start with would be a motion June 18 to affirm the right of BMDC members to hold and express their opinions about all issues, including sex and gender. That would be simple and clear and would not require much discussion or demand for evidence. In addition, passing such a motion would discourage the current disruption.
